Suitable for comics_genfic?
Okay, I'm pondering how to get more people to try reading The Piper and the Gunsmith, because I'm quite proud of it and yet I suspect the obscurity of the characters has reduced my audience rather vastly. I've posted a link from the [info]secondbananas lj community, but I really can't think of any other commuinties it would fit.

People who've read the fic and know the group, do you think it could be posted on [info]comics_genfic? I'm wary, because, well, the fic's a romance, at least technically. Kinda. On the other hand, the plot is the key to the story; the plot is the story. The romance of the central characters is the most important thing in the story, but it's so tightly bound up with the events that happen that if the romance was the only thing there, there wouldn't be a story. So it's both the most important bit of the story, and the least, both at the same time.

I don't think of it as a ship fic, myself. But I don't know whether I'd call it gen, either. And I don't know whether it would fit into [info]comics_genfic's charter.

Anyone else got an opinion? Gen? Ship? Both? Neither? Or another community it might be suitable for?

Personally I wouldn't call it gen because of how central the romance is. It's plotty romance sure but it's still at it's heart a romantic story. I don't know if you're seen 'farscape' but I would compare it to that. Theres a lot of other things going on but the romance is at it's heart. So I would say it wouldn't fit in [info]comics_genfic which wants stories where the romance is either nonexistant or just a subplot. That's just my opinion though.

Fair enough, and a good point. I would, as I said, hesitate to call it gen because it's really not. However, the definition of gen in [info]comics_genfic is a little more relaxed than some, which is why I was wondering...

My two cents

Eep. I still have The Piper and the Gunsmith in my to-read folder so I can't give you any authority on having read its contents...but Nika's said that The Story of Dinah and Bruce has enough other stuff going on that it's welcome on [info]comics_genfic and if that's not the shippiest shipfic ever to sail the seven seas of ficdom, I don't know what is. :)

See, that's what made me consider it. Because it does have romance of a sort, but the plot is huge and massively important, much like some of the movies mentioned in the intro to the group. *ponders more*

*makes note to go read that fic, since it came out when I had lots of schoolwork*

I've thought for awhile that Livejournal really needs a community for ALL DC fic, even if it's not gen or Titans or Second Bananas or Bat or what have you. Meanwhile--you could go post it on [info]comica_obscura, I think; it's not real active after the challenge, but people did used to post links to fic about obscure characters there.

I actually think that's a very good idea. *ponders* I guess I could make it?

You could! It would be a very good thing, and I'd do what I can to help pimp it...
